The Newcastle Planning Commission serves an important role in city government. The commission provides advice and makes recommendations on the Comprehensive Plan, development codes and other matters related to development and land use to the City Council. The City Council assigns an annual work plan, which the Council may modify during the year.
The Planning Commission is comprised of seven members and is staffed by the community development department. Members are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council. The commission meets the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers located at 12835 Newcastle Way, Suite 200, Newcastle.
Questions concerning the commission or its activities can be directed to Community Development Director Tim McHarg, who is the official staff liaison to the commission. Planning commissioners can be contacted by sending an email to the City Clerk who will distribute the email for commission discussion during a public meeting.
