The City of Newcastle requires businesses selling to or serving Newcastle residents without a physical location in the city, and businesses located in Newcastle to maintain a City Business License. Nonprofits must also be licensed. Businesses owners operating a business from their homes must also obtain a Home Occupation Permit.
The City has partnered with the Washington State Department of Licensing to issue business licenses. City licenses are added to your State Master License as an addendum and may be obtained either online or via mail.
How to Apply for a City of Newcastle Business License:
- File a Master Business Application online at http://business.wa.gov/BLS. Phone: 1-800-451-7985
- A credit card will be needed to file online; or
- Mail the completed forms along with the appropriate fee to:

If mailing the forms, fees may be paid with a check, certified check or money order, payable to: “Department of Revenue”.
Nonprofit organizations must also complete an application, however; the fee is waived to businesses that have a 501(c)(3) tax exemption form attached.
If your business is located in your home in Newcastle, you must also submit a Home Occupation Application.
