Science Day 2008

Did you know: Newcastle Days is not the last summer event!

Electrodes and gizmos and robots galore will be zapping around our learning lab of scientific smarts for all kids ages 5-12.

Kids can attend workshops and exhibits presented by experts from the Museum of Flight and Pacific Science Center, and build their very own projects to take home!

Workshops

  • Radical Robots (grades k-2) SESSION FULL
    TIME: 12:30pm -1:30pm
    How can robots help us solve problems? Become a real robot programmer and find out!
    presented by the Pacific Science Center
  • Bridge the Gap (grades 3-5) SESSION FULL
    TIME: 2:30pm -3:30pm
    Will your bridge survive? Test the limits of a K’NEX bridge & discover what makes it stronger!
    presented by the Pacific Science Center
  • Jet Age Workshop (grades k-3) SESSION FULL
    TIMES: 12:00pm -12:30pm
    1:00pm-1:30pm
    2:30pm-3:00pm
    3:30pm -4:00pm
    Learn how a pilot controls an airplane in this full motion flight simulator!
    presented by the Museum of Flight

Presentations

  • World of Wildlife (ages 5-12) SESSION FULL
    TIME: 1:30pm -2:30pm
    Come meet a real, life Macaw and Bearded Dragon! A Zoo Speaker will talk about important environmental issues affecting the World of Wildlife and bring a variety of Animal Paraphernalia to see and touch.
    presented by the Cougar Mountain Zoological Park

Open Exhibit

  • Physics on Wheels (ages 5-12) SESSION FULL
    TIME: 12:30pm -3:30pm
    Get charged up using hand generators, electric magnets, and light bulbs. Attract interest with magnets. Experiment with lenses, light and sound.
    presented by the Pacific Science Center

Make & Take All-Afternoon Activities SESSION FULL
