Dan was born and raised in Modesto, California and moved
to Puget Sound in 1997. He and his wife Kendra moved
to Newcastle in late 2000.
At 30 years old, Dan has a diverse work history that includes
some time as a Radio DJ, a technology consultant, an assistant
editor of a trade magazine and his current position as
a Program Manager at Microsoft. Aside from his full time
career, Dan also enjoys working as freelance photographer.
Dan and his wife are currently living in the Windtree neighborhood
of Newcastle where they are raising their 2 children Sabrina
and Devon. In his spare time, Dan enjoys a number of outdoor
activities including snowboarding a
nd cycling. He can frequently
be seen riding around Newcastle in his Microsoft Jersey.

Family: Married to Ann Marie Putter for 36
years, One adult son, Jonathan.

Current local, regional, State Committees, Commissions,
Boards, Activities: Sonny Putter was a Commissioner of King County Fire District
No. 25, which previously served the Newcastle area. In
1993, he was instrumental in coordinating the campaign
to incorporate the City of Newcastle.
Sonny has been active in local and regional government
for the past 14 years. He is one of Newcastle's two representatives
to the Eastside Transportation Partnership, of which he
was formerly Vice Chair. He is also Newcastle’s representative
on the I-405 Corridor Program Executive Committee.
From 2002 to 2004, Sonny was elected by his peers in other
cities to serve as Co-Chair of Suburban Cities Association's
Intercity Cooperation Policy Board and as a member of the
organization’s executive committee. In 2005, he was
elected Vice Chair of the Suburban Cities Association's
Public Issues Committee. Sonny currently represents all
King County cities outside Seattle on the Puget Sound Regional
Council’s Executive Board and on the Metropolitan
King County Regional Policy Committee. He served in the
same capacity as a member of the Metropolitan King County
Regional Water Quality Committee, the Regional Transit
Committee and the King County Jail Advisory Committee.
At the State level, Sonny served on the Legislative Committee
of the Association of Washington Cities. He also earned
accreditation as a Certified Municipal Leader from the
Association.
Affiliations/Associations/Community Service: Sonny is a founding board member of the Greater Newcastle
Chamber of Commerce. He has been an officer and board member
of several local charitable organizations. Professionally,
Sonny is a Certified Public Accountant and owner of Friedman,
Putter and Company, an Investment Advisory firm registered
with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Sonny Putter is a graduate of the University of Puget Sound
with a Master of Business Administration degree. He also
graduated from McGill University with a Master of Science
(Applied) degree. Sonny was the recipient of the Elijah
Watt Sells National Accounting Award and the Jack and Charlotte
Spitzer Young Leadership Award. He is a member of Phi Kappa
Phi Honorary Society, a member of the American Association
of Petroleum Geologists and a Fellow of the Geological
Society of Canada.

on city work currently. Taught classes in environmental
review at the University of Washington for several years
and was active member of Solid Waste Association of North
America. Former tutor for Eastside Literacy and foster
parent for two teens.
Other Notes: Graduated with honors with
a B.S. in chemistry from Penn State University. Before
coming to Seattle, worked on the east coast as a chemist
for the Nuclear Power Division of the Navy and later as
a technical writer.
